Choosing to undergo a breast augmentation is only the beginning of the decision making process. One of the larger (no pun intended) decisions you will have is what size implant is right for you, your body, and your lifestyle. The goal of a breast augmentation is to make breasts larger in size and fuller in shape. At the Cosmetic Surgery Center, Dr. Benien strives to create an augmentation to meet your goals—whether you desire a natural and subtle appearance or a more dramatic appeal.
We recommend that you ask yourself: What look do I want? And, what will my body accommodate? Beyond size, fit and proportion are important factors to take into consideration.
Implants are measured in cubic centimeters (ccs or cc3) —the higher the number, the bigger the implant.
Note: Every 150 to 200 ccs is equal to approximately one to one-and-a-half cup sizes.
When deciding on just how big you want to go, it is crucial to take into account your lifestyle. Think about your daily activities, how will an increase in the size and weight of your breasts limit or interfere? Take into consideration your exercise habits, work duties, and household chores including children.
Similarly, physical activity can stress your breast and strain the implant, causing the implant to ‘droop’. The bigger the implant, the more droop-prone you will be.
Body Size & Shape
The amount of natural breast tissue and fat can ultimately affect the size of your implant. The less natural tissue one has, the harder it is to camouflage an implant. Placing too large of implant stretches out the skin and is not flattering. Think of it like you would a pair of jeans: you know better than to try to squeeze into a too-small pair.
The larger the implant the more likely you are to experience complications in the long run. Going too big thins natural tissues, fat, and muscle, increasing the odds that your implant may:
- Bottom Out
- Ripple & Wrinkle
- Create Visible Ridges
- Stretch Marks
At the Cosmetic Surgery Center, we understand the brevity of this decision. Dr. Benien is careful to take precise measurements to ensure that you achieve the best fit and create an augmentation that meets your goals.
